How do I find my birth father?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Mandaa[: asked:

So my parents got divorced. In the process, I accidentally came across a bit of information that shocked me. I’m 14 years old and last year I found out that the person I called dad up until my parents got divorced, isn’t really my dad. My mom had told me that she had gotten married before, but I didn’t think that he was my birth father! My mom DOESN’T know that I know, and I plan on her not knowing until my 16th birthday. Unless of course she tells me first. I know shes scared that I’m going to want to see him and stuff, because she brings up hypothetical situations sometimes when we watch lifetime movies. I’m just curious.. I mean, I despise my dad and I’m not going to go running to this guy who’s DNA I have because he gave me up and I don’t want to be a part of his life. I just want to know his name. I have searched the public records for the county I grew up in, but I found that my mom married another guy in between, because the dates didn’t match up. I just need to figure out a way to find out my birth fathers name. Can anyone help me?
The information was just that I had a different dad.

Thanks for the help! It really got me thinking..

Writing letter to bio fathers family for medical records?

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
danielle d asked:

I need to write a letter to find my husbands biological father. I know his name, general vicinity of where he lives, and know one of my husband’s half sisters names. There are a few other siblings, and I have an address for a woman that married my husband’s step brother (they are since divorced). My mother in law has been NO help. She knows people, who know people, who know people who know the biological father, but won’t reach out to help us find him.
I have no problem writing a letter to all of the people in the general vicinity with the same last name (thankfully there are only 35 in our state).
We are seeking medical information only as I have four children, one which had a rare condition at birth that was ruled out as hereditary from my side of the family tree, but could not be ruled out for my husbands family. (we were able to rule out that it was not hereditary from my husband’s maternal family)
Anyway, I am needing some assistance on how to word the letter. I tried searching the web, but no luck (or I am not putting in the optimum search words)
If someone has a letter that was affective in soliciting the information I would greatly appreciate you sharing.
Or if you of a website with sample letters that I can replicate.

TIA. I am making this my 2009 project.

How can you find out if you have a twin sister?

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009
lifeinthecarribean asked:

Ever since I was little I have always thought I had a twin sister. It would answer all my questions on life etc. Other then Divorce how else can be possible? I did se the commercial for the UnBorn which i think is stupid, but I really dont think she was a miscarriage. And well i just know theres connections between twins, and I just know shes out there somewhere.

How can I find out info such as this. Hospital records be held from 1989? Birth Certificate changed last name? I don’t know, I don’t think i’m quite ready to get a personal investigator just yet. What’s some stuff I can prepare and search for myself?

Just found out I have a half sister?

Ron’s wife asked:

My mom and dad divorced about 12 years ago and my father just told me a few weeks ago that I have an older sister from a previous marriage. My mother didn’t even know he was married before. (my mom and dad were married over in Germany so I guess they didn’t check his records)…. What a shock! I have another sister and just found out at 27y/o.
How can I find my sister. I don’t have alot of info. All I know is her mothers name and her name is either Christine or Christina Nicole. Her last name was probably changer after the divorce b/c my father gave up his rights.
Do I need more info to search? I looked on a couple of sites and came up empty handed.
Any advice?

How do I get a copy of a marriage that happened in New York in the 1920’s?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
papillongirl asked:

My grandmother was married and had my father. Then she got divorce from his father and got remarried. Her new husband adopted my father and none of it was ever talked about again. I would like to find out who his real dad was but all I have is a name. I thought if I could find the marriage license then I could find out more info on him. But it happened in New York and I live in Indiana. I have searched on the internet but it seems like it is real hard and expensive to get any info from New York’s records. It would even be helpful to get a copy of the adoption records, that my have some ssn on it or something from his real father.
